Things will be popping this weekend as residents and visitors alike make their way to the 30th annual Taylor Sweet Corn Festival.

The celebration will kick off with the Ranch Horse Competition at 4 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 29, at the Taylor Rodeo Arena, followed by the Rancho Rodeo at 7 p.m. Tickets are $5 for ages 12 and up. Kids under 12 will be admitted free. For more information about the ranch activities, contact Justin Burt at (928) 587-5244, Ronnie Braswell at 243-0227 or Eddie Hancock at 243-8909.

The Mountain Saddle Band will play at 6 p.m. on Friday at the Taylor Rodeo arena.

Saturday, Aug. 30, activities begin with the Fly-In at the Taylor Airport from 6:30 to 8:30 a.m.

The parade begins at 9 a.m. at the Taylor City Ballfields, then will continue west to 200 South, where it will turn right to Cattle Lane and continue east. If you would like to have an entry in the parade, contact the Snowflake-Taylor Chamber of Commerce at 536-4331.

The Arts and Crafts Fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday in the grassy area at Rodeo Park. Ride the Orb and bounce houses will be there, too.

The Horseless Rodeo will begin at 10 a.m. at the rodeo arena for kids up to 12 years of age. There is no cost for kids to participate.

Dave’s famous barbecue, Hawaiian barbecue, Navajo tacos, hamburgers, hot dogs and much more will be served beginning at 10 a.m. Don’t forget the Taylor Sweet Corn!

The Taylor Historical Museum will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the other historical sites will be open from 1 to 3 p.m.

Bost Family Traditions will play bluegrass music under the pavilion from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and a dance with music by The Sundowners (Floyd Fuentes and Gary Kirkman) is slated from 8 to 11:30 p.m.

On Monday, Sept. 1, the Taylor-Shumway Heritage Foundation will host a Hayride Jamboree, including a hayride tour of the historic sites, a chili bean and cornbread dinner, and entertainment. The fun begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Hancock Log Cabin, located on Willow and Center streets.
