Though the vote totals for statewide offices increased after Cochise County’s votes were tabulated late last week, the outcomes of those races did not change. Cochise County experienced technical difficulties with the tabulation of ballots and those votes were not included in the totals available at press time Aug. 27.
Statewide, 89,302 early ballots and 18,452 provisional ballots, including 922 provisionals from Navajo County, remained to be counted. According to the Arizona Secretary of State’s Office, state law gives the counties five business days, until the end of today (Sept. 3), to verify and process the remaining early and provisional ballots. A state canvass to certify election results for federal, statewide and legislative races is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 8.
