The Lady Wildcats prevailed over Fort Thomas Sept. 30, surviving a four-game match to improve to 9-1 in regular season volleyball matches and leave them sitting seventh in the Division V power point rankings.
Joseph City easily won game one, 25-13, but fell to the Lady Apaches in the second, 25-20. Game three was also close with the Cats winning 25-20. They closed out the match by taking the fourth game 25-13.
The Cats finished the match with 42 team kills. Krista Edwards led the way with 14. Taylor Elmer had nine; Katelyn Pugh and Shannon Mosier, six each; Lindi Gardner, four; and Chalet Baldwin, three.
Edwards, Pugh, Baldwin, Gardner and Mosier each served two aces. Mosier also had two blocks in the match.
Several players were strong on a defense, which finished with 91 total digs. Baldwin led with 26, followed closely by Gardner with 24. Mosier added 15; Edwards, 13; Elmer and Pugh, five each; Summer Brown, two; and Ashli Thomas, one.
The Wildcats will host Valley Sanders tonight (Oct. 10), then travel to Cibecue on Thursday, Oct. 16.
