Helen Armijo, 96, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Nov. 22, 2014. Holy Rosary and Mass of Christian Burial were held Nov. 26 at Madre De Dios Catholic Church in Winslow, with Father Jeffrey King as celebrant. Interment was at Desert View Cemetery in Winslow.
She was born Aug. 18, 1918, in Vernon to Jose Eduardo Castillo and Lucia Elia Tamer.
Helen married Eddie Armijo, and together they raised 10 children. She was a loving mother who lived for her family.
She enjoyed family gatherings, trips to the casino and summers on her front porch.
Survivors include her children, Marcelo (Virginia), Lila (Gary), John (Sara), Maida (John), Carmen (James), Alfred (Buena), Edward, Patricia (Marshall) and Wilfred (Patty); 39 grandchildren; 80 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Bennie; and nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie; her son, Leo; her granddaughter, Mindy; her grandsons, Benjamin and James; her parents, Jose and Lucia; her brothers, Syke and Morris; and her sister, Esther.
Greer’s Mortuary of Winslow was in charge of the arrangements.
