A total of 1,300 free throws were shot by 52 competitors during the 2014 Holbrook Elks Lodge Hoop Shoot on Dec. 13. It is estimated that approximately 500 shooters participated throughout the school-wide practice rounds and competition during the 2014 Hoop Shoot.

The Elks Hoop Shoot is a local, state and national competition for free throw accuracy. Each participant is allowed 25 free throws. The shooter with the most free throws made out of 25 shots in his or her age division advances to the regional competition scheduled Jan. 3 in Camp Verde.

The Elks Hoops Shoot Committee would like to thank the following organizations and volunteers that allowed this competition to happen: Holbrook Unified School District, Hulet Elementary School, Doug Hansen, Daniel Orton, Chris Symancyk, Jody Good, Paul Ortega, Debbie Koerperich, Phil Cobb, Exalted Ruler John Lamb, Patty Hansen, Jeff Jones, Shandie DeMuth, Dylan and Daelyn Nez, Johnavan Attakai, Eric Baldonado, Bev Goodnight and the entire Elks Lodge No. 2450.
