By Greg Perkins Snowflake’s Lady Lobos reached the Christmas break with a 5-4 overall mark. In the two games played last week they earned a split, coming up just two points short in Window Rock on Dec. 15 with a 59-57 loss, followed by a 42-36 win at Payson on Dec. 19. In the Payson contest Tori Flake led the way, netting 14 points. Marisa Godfrey scored 13; Kadi Johnson, 8; Melissa Eich, 5; and Macie Rawlins, 2. The Lobos will be playing in the Valley Christian Christmas Tournament Monday through Wednesday, Dec. 29-31. On Monday they will face Horizon Honors and Tempe Prep. Tuesday’s games against Gilbert Christian and Poston Butte will round out pool play. Wednesday’s game will be a single bracket game. Snowflake entered the initial power point rankings in 25th position with a 2-1 regular season mark. Following the Valley Christian Tourney, the Lobos will return to regular season action on Tuesday, Jan. 6, when they host Holbrook. Two nights later they host Sedona, then on Tuesday, Jan. 13, they wrap up a three-game home stand when Show Low comes to town.
