Phil Marquez Gallegos, 76, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 18, 2015, surrounded by his family. Services were held April 23 at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church in Phoenix, with gravesite services immediately following.
He was born in McNary, and later went to high school in Holbrook.
Phil was a 20-year veteran of the Air Force, serving time in Vietnam and retiring in 1981. He later worked for the Maricopa County Hospital. He eventually found his true calling as a teacher at Isaac Middle School, where he taught language arts and yearbook, as well as instructing adult students in the evening in English as a second language.
Our home was always filled with love and laughter where everyone was always welcome to eat, talk and stay for a while.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Natividad.
Survivors include his sons, Phillip, Joseph and Kevin; his ex-wife, Evangeline; his siblings, Isidro, Rebecca Ann, Debbie and Cindy; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to the American Liver Foundation or the Isaac Middle School Yearbook Club in Phoenix.
