Winslow Volleyball Team To Host Scrimmage August 28 By Sam Conner The Winslow Lady Bulldogs volleyball team will host a preseason scrimmage with three other teams on Friday, Aug. 28. The team is coached by Rinell Heister and Liz McLaws, both of whom have considerable experience coaching the sport. The team will have at least 19 events on its schedule, including three tournaments. The first match will be on Tuesday, Sept. 1, at Fountain Hills, with both varsity and junior varsity matches slated. The teams will return home on Thursday, Sept. 3, to host the Holbrook Lady Roadrunners in freshman, junior varsity and varsity matches. As with all home matches, the freshmen will play at 4 p.m., the junior varsity at 5 p.m. and his varsity at 6 p.m. The varsity will go to Payson on Sept. 4 and 5 for the Payson Invitational Tournament. On Tuesday, Sept. 8, the Hopi Lady Bruins will come to Winslow for matches. On Thursday, Sept. 10, Central High School teams will be in Winslow for matches. The Bulldogs will journey to Mingus High School to play the Lady Marauders on Tuesday, Sept. 15. The team will be on the road on Sept. 18 and 19 for the Snowflake Invitational Tournament. A home court match with Northland Prep on Tuesday, Sept. 22, will split two tournament weekends. The Mustang Tournament at Monument Valley High School in Kayenta will be on Sept. 25 and 26. Winslow will host its next three matches with Greyhills Academy on Tuesday, Sept. 29, the Page Lady Sand Devils on Thursday, Oct. 1, and the Window Rock Lady Scouts on Tuesday, Oct. 6. The Bulldogs will be on the road at Tuba City on Thursday, Oct. 8, to meet the Lady Warriors and at Payson on Tuesday, Oct. 13, to play the Lady Longhorns. The Ganado Lady Hornets will come to Winslow on Thursday, Oct. 15. The Bulldogs will journey to Holbrook on Tuesday, Oct. 20, to meet the Roadrunners. Winslow will host the Snowflake Lobos on Thursday, Oct. 22, and journey to Lakeside to meet the Blue Ridge Lady Yellowjackets on Tuesday, Oct. 27. The last regular season match will be played at Winslow on Thursday, Oct. 29, against the Show Low Lady Cougars.
