Joseph City’s volleyball program continues to flourish under Coach Sherri Brennan. Last season’s turnout produced record numbers of participants, only to be exceeded by this season’s start. The Lady Wildcats start the season off with 32 players and three managers. Coach Brennan will also benefit from the veteran leadership of former coach Darrel Mosier.
The Cats have four returning varsity players seniors Chalet Baldwin and Sadi Tuckfield, and juniors Amanda Baldwin and Cera Thompson. The remaining varsity slots are filled by seniors Tricia Bay-Morgan, Alyssa Hutchens and Meghan Shaw, juniors Mary Larsen and Kaylee Palmer, and sophomores Tacye Baldwin, Haley Edwards and Kassidy Richards.
The junior varsity and freshman rosters will include senior Stephani DoBell, juniors Sarah Layden and Autum VanHemert, sophomores Katie Hutchens, Arianna Kissling, Makenna Lawson, BreeAnna McCormick, Kennedy Moss, DeAnna Penrod and Sierra Wenger, and freshmen Tarah Fish, Khylee Flake, Heather Foster, Kaylie Gardner, Abby Hunt, Shyla Jesmer, Marissa Martineau, Leigh Neal, Hailey Rush and McKenna Westover, along with managers Joe Burt, Max Mosier and Gabby Paddock-Cereceres.
“We are looking forward to our first game on Sept. 8 against the St. Michael Cardinals starting at 4 p.m. with the freshman team, 5 p.m. for the jayvees and 6 p.m. for the varsity,” stated the coach.
