The Lady Roadrunners opened their season at Window Rock Tuesday night where things looked good through the first game as Holbrook finished on top, 25-22. Unfortunately, the final three games belonged to the hometown Lady Scouts, who closed out the match with 25-17, 25-16, and 25-19 wins.

For Holbrook, Adriana Monroe finished the match with an ace, nine kills, four assists and 24 digs. Carla Plumb added a kill, five assists and three digs. Alishea Kee helped with a kill and an assist. Darian Hollins tallied five kills, two assists and eight digs. Destany Begay served three aces and had four digs. Kendra Monroe helped with a kill, six assists and five digs. Laurie Brown served an ace, had five kills, lofted up 20 assists and had 14 digs. Lexi Beltran added a kill, eight assists and 34 digs. Shayna Carlson finished with an ace, nine kills and seven digs.  Sydney Plumb added two kills, an assist and seven digs.

After playing in Winslow on Thursday, Coach Leslie Baldonado’s squad will wrap up a busy first week of the season this weekend at the Payson Tournament, competing with 31 other schools.  On Tuesday, Sept. 8, the Roadrunners travel to Ganado, then will compete in a one-day tournament at Coconino High School in Flagstaff on Saturday, Sept. 12.
