Arizona Public Service (APS) Cholla Power Plant will host a Free Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event from 8 a.m. to 12 noon on Saturday, Oct. 3, at 269 W. Bucket of Blood St. in Holbrook. The event will give residents of Holbrook, Joseph City, Sun Valley and Woodruff the opportunity to bring in hazardous waste to be safely recycled or disposed of.
This is the first event of its kind to be held in Holbrook since 2005, and it is sponsored by APS in partnership with the City of Holbrook and the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality. Navajo County has also committed to disposing of the tires that are brought in during this event.
“I am truly excited for this event,” said Cholla Power Plant Manager Ed Seal, the driving force behind the hazardous waste collection day. “I personally have struggled with where to take this stuff, and an event like this is long overdue.”
Residents must present proof (such as a mailed bill) that they reside in Holbrook, Joseph City, Sun Valley or Woodruff, in order to drop off their hazardous waste.
