Running at the Four Corners Invitational cross country meet along with 23 other teams last Saturday, Holbrook finished 18th in the boys’ competition, but didn’t have enough runners to qualify for a team score in the girls’ division.

Jordan Gardner of Snowflake won the individual title in the varsity race with a time of 16:26.89.  Allie Schadler from Rio Rico claimed the girls’ individual crown with a time of 17:18.37. Flagstaff won both the boys’ and the girls’ team titles.

Holbrook’s top male runner was Diyanii Yazzie, who finished 60th in the 164-runner field with a time of 18:34.05. Kody Joe was 78th; Elliot Pete, 108th; Ryan Martin, 134th; and Todd Gishie, 139th.

Dakota Dick paced the Holbrook girls, placing 52nd with a time of 22:42.28. LaShaundra Tsosie, 68th; Deedra Morris, 92nd; and Morgan Zahne, 95th.

In the junior varsity boys race, Holbrook’s Thurman Yazzie was 46th in the field of 202 runners; Cody Keyonnie, 110th; Emmanuel Yellowhair, 123rd; Jaydon Johns, 140th; Kyle Baldwin, 161st; and Trei Jensen, 175th.

In the girls’ jayvee race, Jordan Platero was 37th among 163 runners; Kiah Demuth, 39th; and Megan Bia, 95th.

The Holbrook teams will be competing on Saturday, Sept. 26, at the Doug Connelly Invitational meet in Tempe.
