When the initial power point rankings for Division V came out on Tuesday, the Lady Wildcats of Joseph City found themselves ranked 13th heading into that evening’s match with Round Valley at Eagar. Unfortunately, they fell in that match 0-3 to a very good Lady Elks team.
Prior to that match the Wildcats picked up their second win of the season last Friday, defeating the Red Valley Cove Lady Miners in three straight games, 25-22, 25-14 and 25-17.
In that match the Cats had 26 kills, led by Amanda Baldwin with nine. Haley Edwards added six; Tricia Bay-Morgan and Sadie Tuckfield, three each; and Chalet Baldwin and Tacye Baldwin, two each.
Edwards led the team in service aces with seven. Tuckfield added six; Chalet Baldwin, two; and Amanda Baldwin, one.
Amanda Baldwin, Bay-Morgan, Kassidy Richards, Tuckfield and Edwards were credited with a dig each on defense.
Joseph City stands at 2-2 in regular season matches. Tonight (Sept. 25) the Cats play at rival Mogollon. On Saturday they travel to Fredonia and on Tuesday they continue logging miles with a trip to Red Mesa. The following weekend they will host their invitational tournament.
