New hours of operation have been proposed for the Holbrook Post Office.
The service window is currently open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 12 noon on Saturdays, while the lobby is open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Saturday and closed on Sundays.
The proposed changes would set the customer service window hours from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday. Saturday hours would remain unchanged. The lobby hours would be 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
Holbrook is the only remaining post office in the area that currently maintains the longer customer service hours. Snowflake’s customer service window closes at 4:30 p.m., and Joseph City and Winslow’s close at 3 p.m.
According to Postmaster Loretta Short, the change isn’t mandatory, but is being made based on the lack of revenues generated during the late afternoon. The changes will go into effect after Short notifies the Postmaster of Operations in Phoenix on Sept. 28 and receives final approval.
