Virgil Rogers, 50, of Indian Wells passed away on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2015, in Phoenix. Funeral services were held Sept. 23 in Holbrook. Interment was in the Holbrook Cemetery.
He was born Aug. 31, 1965, in Keams Canyon to Jane Kanuho Rogers and David Rogers.
Virgil graduated from Holbrook High School. He attended refrigeration training in Phoenix. He continued his training with UA Plumber Local 469 and worked as a journeyman. He never asked for much in return, but was always willing to lend a helping hand when asked, from plumbing to painting, mechanical work, cooking and above all as a handyman.
He loved traveling and had been to many states.
Virgil has touched many people with his gentle heart and kindness; his respect for all walks of life. Virgil had a genuine heart of gold. He always had a joke and a smile.
Survivors include his sisters, Dorothy K. Bates, Sarah Charles and Virginia Kanuho; his stepbrother, Delson Rogers; his nieces, Valencia Yazzie, Debbie Kanuho, Cherlynn Kanuho, Charlotte Kanuho and Nicole Kanuho; and his nephews, Shaun Bates, Christopher Charles, Roscoe Kanuho and Enrique Kanuho.
He was preceded in death by Jimmie Kanuho and Raymond Kanuho.
Owens Livingston Mortuary of Holbrook was in charge of the arrangements.
