Eighteen Division III teams competed in the cross country sectional meet held last Friday afternoon at Holbrook’s Hidden Cove Golf Course.
Tuba City won the boys’ team title with 62 points. Chinle followed in second with 89 and Page was third with 94.
Page won the girls’ division with 58 points. Ganado was second with 63 and Window Rock was right behind in third with 64.
Holbrook placed 13th in the boys’ team competition and 11th in the girls’ rankings.
Santiago Hardy of Chinle won the boys’ race with a time of 16:13. Jordan Gardner of Snowflake was second in 16:39. Jalen Chee of Ganado placed third with a time of 16:46.
Holbrook was paced by Abrian Dickson with a 46th place finish in 18:20. Diyanii Yazzie was 62nd; Weston Williams, 64th; Ryan Martin, 78th; Greg Benally, 87th; Hershal Skeets, 90th; and Emmanuel Yellowhair, 102nd.
Daangoiina Haven of Ganado took the girls’ title with a time of 18:50. Chamique DuBoise of Window Rock was second in 19:05 and Nikesha Eagleman of Chinle placed third with a time of 19:45.
LaShaundra Tsosie led the Lady Roadrunners with a 40th place finish in the field of 107 runners, crossing the line in 22:21. Deedra Morris finished 53rd; Kiah Demuth, 61st; Morgan Zahne, 71st; Jordan Platero, 72nd; Saun Rae Nez, 74th; and Tanisha Yazzie, 78th.
Teams finishing in the top 50 percent and individuals placing in the top 25 overall qualified for the state meet, which will be held on Saturday, Nov. 7, at the Cave Creek Golf Course. No Holbrook runners qualified, thus ending the Roadrunners’ cross country season.
