Holbrook opened the basketball season with a come from behind three-point victory over the Alchesay Falcons Monday night in Whiteriver.
The Roadrunners led by four at the close of the first, and by three at the half. Abrian Dickson led Holbrook in the first half, scoring nine of his team high 15 points. The Falcons stormed back in the third, outscoring Holbrook by 10 in the frame to lead 40-33 going into the final period.
In the fourth the Holbrook squad helped preserve the win by making seven of 11 free throws down the stretch to secure the 49-46 win.
Dickson led the Roadrunner offense with 15 points, followed by Nathan Johnson with 14. Benson Davis added 9; Elliot Pete, 4; Hayden Kinlichee, 3; and Rhett Desiderio and Brandon Kester, 2 each. As a team Holbrook made four three-point shots and converted 15 of 21 from the free throw line.
Alchesay connected on three treys and went seven of nine at the charity stripe.
After playing in the Rain and Drain Tournament in Tempe over the Thanksgiving break, Holbrook will return to action on Tuesday, Dec. 1, with a trip to Window Rock to face the Scouts and former Roadrunner Coach Raul Mendoza.
