The Holbrook Roadrunners picked up their second regular season road win in as many starts Tuesday night with a 47-39 victory at Window Rock.
Three Roadrunners connected from distance in the first period to help Holbrook keep pace with the Scouts, with both teams netting 12 points in the opening eight minutes of action.
The Roadrunners essentially made their winning surge in the second period, where they outscored the home team 18-7 to lead by 11 at the half. Rhett Desiderio led the period for Holbrook by netting eight of his 10 points in the frame, including two treys.
Window Rock took the Birds off the three-point line in the third period, holding them to just a six-point quarter to narrow the margin to five heading to the fourth. In the final eight minutes Holbrook made just two field goals, but converted six of eight free throws to secure the win.
Abrian Dickson led Holbrook’s offense with 14 points. Desiderio added 10; Benson Davis, 7; Miireux Begaii and Hayden Kinlicheenie, 6 each; and Nathan Johnson and Elliot Pete, 2 each. Holbrook made only six two-point field goals, but hit eight from behind the arc and went 11 for 14 at the free throw line.
Window Rock was led by Tyrese Brown with 11 points. The Scouts hit two three-point shots and matched Holbrook at the line, going 11 for 14.
With the win the Roadrunners push their season mark to 8-0. They will be off until Tuesday, Dec. 8, when they see their first home court action of the season when Blue Ridge makes a visit.
