The Wildcats of Joseph City didn’t open the season last week as they had hoped, instead suffering a 20-point road loss at Williams.
Senior Koby Smith struggled with foul trouble through the second and third periods, but still finished with 13 points. Matt Fields led both teams with a game high 20 points in the 66-46 loss.
This weekend Joseph City will be in action at the Route 66 tournament, also held in Williams. The Cats were slated to play Grand Canyon on Thursday, then match up with Seligman and Ash Fork today (Dec. 4). Saturday’s games will be determined by pool play results from the first two days. On Tuesday, Dec. 8, the Cats will play their first home game of their year when Shonto Prep is scheduled to make a visit.
