The Wildcats of Joseph City went 1-2 in the three games they played last week.
On Tuesday they scored well, but couldn’t keep pace with Piñon, falling to the Eagles 77-66 in Joseph City.
Koby Smith once again had a big night for the Cats, netting 29 points and pulling down 14 boards. Matt Fields added 9 points; Tristan Richard, 8; Troy Poudrier, 7; Aaron Johnstun, 6; Daniel Tigert, 5; and Carlos Sanchez, 2. The Wildcats made three treys and went 11 for 14 at the free throw line.
On Thursday, Joseph City went to Sanders, where the Pirates scorched the nets to earn a 90-48 win over the Cats.
Fields played well, scoring 20 points for the Wildcats. Smith added 16; Richard, 6; Forester Flake, 4; and Johnstun, 2.
The Wildcats finished the week on a positive note with a 48-10 win over visiting Fredonia on Saturday.
With two weeks left in the season, the Cats are 10-10 overall. They are 7-5 in power point games and still on the edge of the top 24. After playing at Red Valley Cove on Tuesday, they will host Ash Fork on Thursday, Jan. 28, then travel to Rough Rock on Friday, Jan. 29. They begin their final week of the regular season on Tuesday, Feb. 2, when they host Cibecue.
