The Roadrunners cruised to victory in Flagstaff Monday night, coming home with an 83-52 win over an overmatched Northland Prep squad.
Holbrook scorched the nets in the first period for 27 points behind six three-point shots, four of which came from Rhett Desiderio. Abrian Dickson scored 10 of his game high 26 in the first eight minutes as well. The Runners didn’t let off the gas much in the second period, netting an additional 20 points to lead 47-26 at the half. Elliot Pete scored six in the period, including four for four shooting at the free throw line.
Hayden Kinlichee found the stroke from distance in the third, raining in three treys to help his team extend the lead. In the final quarter Holbrook made nine of 10 free throws to cap the big win.
On the night the Roadrunners converted 21 of 24 charity tosses, piled up 12 three-point shots and connected on 13 two-point field goals.
Dickson led the team in scoring with 26 points. Desiderio added 15; Kinlichee, 12; Pete, 11; Benson Davis, 8; Miireux Begaii, 5; and Tynen Thomas, Brandon Kester and Terrence Kelley, 2 each.
Northland Prep made no three-point shots and went 12 of 20 at the free throw line.
With the win, the Roadrunners improved to 19-7 on the season and 9-4 in power point contests. The varsity will host Page at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 30. The freshman and junior varsity boys will play at 1:30 p.m. at Mike Starr and Tony Muñoz gyms, respectively. On Wednesday, Feb. 3, they will travel to Chinle, then wrap up the regular season on Friday, Feb. 5, with a home contest on Senior Night when Monument Valley comes to town.
