The Winslow Bulldogs defeated the Dysart Demons 66-58 in a second round game of the Arizona State Division III Championship Tournament played last Friday at Coconino High School in Flagstaff. The win improved Winslow’s record to 24-7 going into the quarterfinals and ended Dysart’s season with an 18-10 record.
Winslow started strong and held an 18-14 lead after the first quarter of play. Dysart rallied in the second period and took a 30-28 lead to the locker room at the intermission of the closely fought game. The Bulldogs took a 46-43 lead into the fourth quarter of the still very close game and led most of the final period to pull away for the 66-58 victory.
Malik Ondigo led all scorers with 24 points for Dysart.
Winslow had four players in double figures led by Rory Billie with 14 points, one more than Dalvin Benally and Akeem Foster. Nathan Hanley was also in double figures for the Bulldogs.
Winslow will next meet the Mingus Marauders at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 25, in the Gila River Arena in Glendale.
