The Lady Lobos of Snowflake made their way into the second round of the state tournament before their season came to a close at the hands of Window Rock last Saturday night.
Snowflake opened the playoffs on the road at North and came from behind in the fourth period to overtake the Lady Mustangs 54-52. The 23rd seeded Lobos battled 10th seeded North to a 22-22 halftime tie. Snowflake trailed by one heading to the fourth but in the final stanza, they caught and past the higher seed to advance to the second round.
Audrey Livingston led the way with 18 points. Elle Flake also played well, netting 16. Nikita Olms finished with 12; Tori Flake, 6; and Breklee Tanner, 2.
With the win the Lobos were back on the road on Saturday to face sixth seeded Window Rock. The Scouts jumped out early, leading 13-3 after the first period. In the second Snowflake found its stride and pulled within two points at 25-23 by the half. The third quarter was the deciding one as the Scouts outscored the Lobos 20-12 to extend their lead to 10 points. Both teams scored well in the fourth, but the Scouts advanced to round three with a 66-55 win which brought an end to Snowflake’s season.
Tori Flake finished her senior season in fine form by netting 19 points. Livingston and Olms added 9 each; Madison Butler, Tanner and Melissa Eich, 4 each; Elle Flake, 3; Mickelle Stradling, 2; and Emily Ballard, 1.
Snowflake completed the season with an overall record of 17-13.
