Black History Month is winding down and with that, a special nod goes to Arizona blues legend Tommy Dukes.
Dukes was born in Hattiesburg, Miss., and at the age of 10 took the train to Winslow, a place he’s called home ever since. Dukes has been a blues performer as long as he can remember, garnering numerous awards and being inducted into the Arizona Blues Hall of Fame in 1997.
He performs his brand of blues throughout the state, including a gig slated at the State Bar in Flagstaff on Saturday, Feb. 27, the Blues Blast in downtown Phoenix on Saturday, March 5, The Gopher Hole in the Weatherford Hotel in Flagstaff on Saturday, March 19, The Rhythm Room on Friday, March 25, and back at the State Bar on Saturday, March 26.
