Kerry Lee Button, 54, of Show Low passed away on Friday, March 11, 2016, in Show Low following a lengthy six-year battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 17, at the Owens Livingston Mortuary-White Mountain Chapel, 320 N. Ninth St. in Show Low, with a viewing one hour prior to services.
She was born March 5, 1962, to George and Kathleen Alayne (Thompson) Lastiwka in Manville, Alberta, Canada.
Kerry attended the University of Alberta Hospital Nursing Program in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, where she graduated with her nursing degree. She worked for the Summit Healthcare Regional Medical Center in the Oncology Department before transferring to Med. Surg 2. She taught the Northland Pioneer College Nursing Program for many years, where she precepted many new nurses.
She enjoyed cross stitching, knitting, traveling and photography. She loved her family and her dogs.
Survivors include her loving husband of 25 years, James Button of Show Low; children, James and Kathlin Button of Show Low; father, George Lastiwka of Edmonton; sister, Georgina Atkin (Christopher) of Edmonton; brothers, Ken, William, Ted and Darrell (Mary) Lastiwka, all of Edmonton; as well as many extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Alayne Lastiwka; and two brothers, Wayne and Patrick Lastiwka.
