The Winslow Lady Bulldogs lost a pair of games in their last two outings, falling to the Cactus Lady Cobras 16-6 last Tuesday in Phoenix and to the Lady Eagles 8-5 last Friday in Flagstaff. The losses dropped Winslow’s record to a still excellent 13-7.
Winslow took a 3-0 lead in the top of the second inning in Tuesday’s game, but Cactus scored five in the bottom of the frame. The third inning was similar as Winslow took a 6-5 lead in the top of the frame only to see Cactus move ahead 10-6 in the home half of the inning. The Lady Cobras scored a run in the bottom of the fourth and completed the scoring with five runs in the bottom of the fifth.
Sherreise Beaty took the loss, working the hill for four innings and giving up 13 runs, only 10 of which were earned, on 10 hits. Justine Butterfield worked an inning and gave up three runs, only two of which were earned.
Winslow had only four hits in the contest. Beaty was 1 for 1 with a double. Morgan Thomas was 1 for 2 with a home run. Alyssa Smith was 1 for 3 with a home run and three RBIs. Gabby Gonzalez was also 1 for 3.
In Friday’s game at Flagstaff, the Eagles topped the Bulldogs 8-5. No statistics from this game were available at press time.
The Bulldogs were slated to host the Greenway Lady Demons on March 29. They will meet the Ironwood Lady Eagles on Thursday, March 31, in Glendale and the Coconino Lady Panthers in Flagstaff on Saturday, April 2.
