Playing just one game since last Tuesday, the Holbrook Roadrunners made the most of that appearance, shutting out St. Johns 16-0 on Saturday behind a no-hit pitching performance from Jalen Nez.
Nez worked the hill for five innings, facing just two over the minimum number of batters. He gave up no runs, with no hits and six strikeouts while walking just one batter. The other base runner reached base due to a fielding error by the Birds.
Holbrook collected 16 runs on 11 hits, made just the one error and left five on base. St. Johns committed seven errors and left two on base.
At the plate, Gabe Gabaldon went 2 for 3 for the Birds with an RBI and scored twice. Trevor Barton was 1 for 4 with a double, two RBIs and scored twice. Cade Maestas went 1 for 4 with a double, three RBIs and scored 3 times. Nick Robinson went 1 for 2 and scored twice. Tristan Baldonado went 1 for 3 with a double, an RBI and scored twice.
