Navajo County Junior Miss Pageant Features 21 Contestants This Year

    Twenty-one young ladies vied for the titles in the Navajo County Junior Miss Pagaent held Sept. 12 at the Navajo County Fair in Holbrook.
    Following the production number, interviews and talent presentations, the judges named the 2007 win-ners, including Navajo County Outstanding Teen Davylyn Dennison, Navajo County Junior Miss Kylee Smith, Navajo County Miss Princess Haylee Farr and Navajo County Little Miss Cambrie Palmer.
    Davylyn Dennison is 16 years old and lives in Lakeside. She is a three-time winner in the Navajo County Junior Miss Pageant’s divisions. She is a sophomore at Blue Ridge High School, and is concentrat-ing her studies in the honors program and music.
    Kylee Smith is 12 years old and lives in Show Low. She is a two-time county pageant winner, and a seventh grader at Blue Ridge Junior High School, where she is a cheerleader.
    Haylee Farr is eight years old and lives in Taylor. She is also a two-time winner in the pageant, and is a third grade student.
    Cambrie Palmer is seven years old and also lives in Taylor. She is a second grader, and wants to be a pop star when she grows up.
    The pageant’s theme was “A Night in the Old West,” and the stage was set to appear like an Old West stable. Steve Harrington, pastor of the Old West Chapel loaned the chapel’s backdrop for the pageant. The emcees for the evening were Steve Johnson, general manager of White Mountain Radio, and Kelly McLaws, one of the Chicks on Route 66 from FM 92.1.
    Sponsors of the pageant included Navajo County Fair Inc., the Old West Chapel in Show Low, the Dance Academy in Wagon Wheel, Fikes Orthopedic in Wagon Wheel, White Mountain Radio of Pinetop and Holbrook, DiRT Construction of Lakeside, Corral West of Show Low, Wal-Mart of Show Low, Stage Store in Show Low, Scapbook Basics/Felicity DeWitt of Taylor, Bubba's Big Pig Barbecue in Holbrook, Blossum Bead Company/Nicole Lehto of Pinetop, Rowell Construction of Lakeside, Versa Tech Consult-ants International of Show Low, and Charlie and Joandare Lovett.
    The pageant choreographers were Mindy Carwin and Debbie Shumway. Cindy and Katrina Tafoya managed the stage. Cindy is the director of the Navajo County Cinderella Pageant, and her daughter Ka-trina is the reigning ambassador of the Arizona State Cinderella Scholarship Pageant and a three-time win-ner in the Navajo County Junior Miss Pageant. The pagaent director was Tammy Dennison.
