Joseph City Invitational Slated This WeekendJanuary 2nd, 2008
Eighteen high school teams will compete in the 37th annual Joseph City Invitational Wrestling Tour-nament, which is scheduled on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 4 and 5. The wrestlers will represent Antelope, Bradshaw Mountain, Cactus, Cactus Shadows, Chino Valley, Flagstaff, Ft. Wingate, Joseph City, Kingman, Lake Havasu, Many Farms, Mohave, Mogollon, Pima, Pi-ñon, Salt River, Valley Lutheran and Valley Sanders high schools. Each team will wrestle seven dual meets over the two-day tourney. At the completion of the dual meet portion of the competition, the top two wrestlers from each pool will be seeded in a four-man bracket to wrestle for first through fourth places. The third place wrestlers from each bracket will wrestle for fifth and sixth places. Wrestlers will be seeded from the team portion of the tournament. Session 1 will begin at 11 a.m. on Friday. Session 2 is slated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, followed by the Gold Medal Championship Round at 3:30 p.m. Admission is $5 per session for adults and $4 per session for students. Concessions, including food, drinks and T-shirts, will be on sale throughout the tournament.
