Matthew Barger Is Named Chairman Of City Planning/Zoning Commission

    New officers were elected for 2008, during the Feb. 21 meeting of the Holbrook Planning and Zoning Commission. Matthew Barger was elected as chairman and Mike Sample as vice chairman.
   The commission rejected a request made by Robert Nadeau for a conditional use permit to allow for an automobile storage yard due to the proximity the storage facility would have had to Navajo Blvd. The loca-tion for the facility was to be at 119 E. California St.
   The commission also determined that the city’s general plan map needed to be updated to show the cor-rect areas zoned for commercial and residential use, as well as open space. The decision was to use a cur-rent zoning map and color-code the proper areas accurately in order to clarify their locations.
