February 29th, 2008

Navajo County Finance Director James Menlove was unanimously approved Feb. 21 as president-elect of the Government Finance Officers Association of Arizona (GFOAz).
“It’s an honor to be considered for this position,” Menlove said. “This is an important organization, and I’m grateful to have a hand in its operation.”
Menlove was approved by the eight other members of the GFOAz Board of Directors at their annual conference in Prescott. His duties as president-elect will be to help conduct board meetings, making deci-sions for the organization, and to perform the duties of President Linda York of Chino Valley in her ab-sence.
GFOAz was founded in 1965, “to improve the practice of governmental finance in the State of Ari-zona,” and to promote “excellence in government financial management through leadership, education and communication.
The non-profit professional organization is the state chapter of the national Government Finance Offi-cers Association, and has a membership of nearly 390 people from state, county and city municipalities, school districts, colleges, universities, special districts and private firms.
Menlove will serve as the president-elect of GFOAz for one year and as president the following year. He has served on the board of GFOAz for eight years.
