Architect Is Selected For Joseph City Bond Projects

    The Joseph City School District Governing Board approved of the use of Corgan Associates Inc. of Phoenix March 11 as the architect for upcoming bond funded projects.
    The cost for services has yet to be decided and will be addressed during the April 8 school board meet-ing. Following the cost agreement, a meeting will be scheduled with Corgan to discuss priorities of the bond projects.
    The specified projects that will be addressed include the priorities of renovations to the swimming pool and all-weather track; electrical upgrades district-wide; renovations to the pool and physical education locker rooms, showers and restrooms; Joseph City High School auditorium lighting system; new JCHS classrooms; and renovations to the JCHS wrestling and weight room.
    In other action March 11, the board:
    * Approved the second reading of the Arizona School Board Association’s (ASBA) policy revision: Special Instructional Programs.
    * Approved the first reading of ASBA policy revisions regarding Professional/Support Staff Leaves of Absence Without Pay, and Student Records.
    * Approved a request for an exception to policy to allow for interscholastic sports and junior high/high school music program on Good Friday, March 20.
    * Authorized certified/classified fiscal year 2009 salary increases of a two percent step.
    * Approved the Management Team fiscal year 2009 salary schedule.
    * Approved issuance of fiscal year 2009 contracts/work agreements.
    * Approved a request for fiscal year 2009 teaching contract through Educational Systems Inc. (ESI) for RaeNell Holmes.
    * Approved Wendy Fenn as a substitute teacher.
    * Approved D.J. Mosier as a volunteer in the baseball program.
    * Approved the fiscal year 2009-10 district calendars.
    * Approved a fiscal year 2007 expenditure in the amount of $2,324.71 for an embroidery machine to be paid out of fiscal year 2008 funds. This machine was determined to be ineligible for grant funds and needed to be taken from this year’s budget, as the 2007 books are closed.
