Community Bridge Builders Are HonoredMarch 19th, 2008
Photos by Mike James/Silver Creek Communications Reese and Cheryle Webb, Mitzi Papa, Keith Webb and Brewster Mays (not pictured) were honored as Community Bridge Builders at the Snowflake Heritage Foundation Awards Dinner on Saturday, March 15. Reese Webb served on the Irrigation Board, and was instrumental in the construction of Millet Swale Dam to stop flooding of the Silver Creek. He participated in the widow wood din-ner/dance that was held for many years, and was involved in the Little League park and rodeo grounds. He also served on the Snowflake Town Council. For many years Cheryle Webb has made a new quilt for every baby in her ward, as well as made costumes for many of the plays and produc-tions in the community. She is involved in ticket sales for the Silver Creek Performing Arts Associa-tion. Mitzi Papa served for many years on the Snowflake Heritage Foundation Board in charge of the Locy Rogers log cabin and the 12 Days of Christmas Spectacular. She worked on the election board for many years, and has always been supportive of the community in a variety of ways. Keith Webb worked with the Boy Scouts of America program through the 1970s to 1990s, as well as the Little League program, where he was president as well as a coach and put many hours into the Little League field. He is safety director at the paper mill and made the blood drive a community-wide program, receiving local, state and national awards. He is presently on the Northern Arizona Train-ing Center Board and was involved in the widows wood dance. He organized recycling for the Scouts. Brewster Mays has served as the blacksmith at the Stinson Museum, where he has given demonstra-tions nearly every Saturday for approximately 10 years. John Taylor, president of the Heritage Foundation, encouraged those who don’t know Brewster to stop by the blacksmith shop and get ac-quainted with him.
