Two Fatalities Result As Car Flees The Scene Of A CrimeApril 9th, 2008
By Linda Kor Two people were killed and two injured in two related incidents that occurred in Winslow Sunday evening. According the Winslow Police Department, Mildred Daily, 46, of Flagstaff and an unidentified woman were both killed when they were ejected from a vehicle after it rolled numerous times on North Park Drive while they were attempting to elude Winslow police officers who were pursuing them. The crash occurred at 5:41 p.m. on April 6. Another passenger, Otis Thompson, 41, was also ejected from the vehicle, but sustained only minor injuries to his right arm. The pursuit took place after Daily, who was driving the vehicle, fled the parking lot of Denny’s Restaurant, located at 410 Mike’s Pike, where she allegedly ran down Vincent Yazzie, 48, a transient staying in Winslow, in what was apparently an incidence of domestic violence. Yazzie’s leg was severely damaged, but he is expected to survive.
