Challenges Leave Two Candidates Out Of Race For County Offices

July 9th, 2008

Two candidates for county offices are no longer in the race.
Evelyn Meadows withdrew her bid for the position of county recorder after being challenged by Rich-ard C. Justman.
Christian Ackerly, who was vying for the position of county attorney, was removed from the ballot after coming up 12 signatures short of the 478 required. He is also unable to qualify as a write-in candidate. Ackerly had been challenged by Brad Carlyon, who is also running for the office.
Stanford E. Lerch challenged Jeffrey Brown’s candidacy for District 1 Congressman, but Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Bethany Hicks ruled in favor of Brown, stating that he had not been served in a timely manner.
