March 23rd, 2009

Members of the Holbrook City Council canvassed the results of the March 10 primary election Tuesday evening.
Mayor Jeff Hill won re-election, defeating David M. Newlin, 588-198. One write-in vote was cast.
Matthew Searles led the race for three council seats with 502 votes, followed by incumbent Wade Car-lisle with 476; Myron Maxwell, 287; Eva Purvis, 264; William Stewart, 254; Spike Simmons, 235; and Melissa Prather, 60. There were 12 write-in votes.
Searles and Carlisle were elected outright. Maxwell and Purvis will be the sole candidates for the third council seat on the May 19 general election ballot.
These results include 24 early ballots not previously included in our published totals.
Following a recent revision of the charter, Hill, Searles, Carlisle and the winner of the May 19 election will be sworn in immediately following the canvass of the general election results.
