Time To Visit Clear CreekApril 1st, 2009
Photo by Tammy Gray-Searles With the arrival of spring it’s time once again to enjoy the beauty of Clear Creek and McHood Park in Winslow. Water levels are up, and there are no logjams blocking access to farther reaches of the canyon as there were last year. Small boats and those that don’t sit too deep in the water can safely make the passage from the boat docks to the canyon while the water remains high. The only detractors from a trip down the beautiful canyon are the facts that most of the fish aren’t biting yet and Clear Creek is not on Arizona Game and Fish the Department’s trout stocking schedule for April. However, the yellow-belly catfish that call the canyon home will still pull an April Fools’ Day joke any time of the year, stealing bait and taunting fishermen hoping to hook a trout.
