Ryan Shupe Concert Is Slated As HJHS Library Fund-RaiserMay 20th, 2009
By Naomi Hatch “Our library is in poor shape,” Snowflake Junior High School Principal Kim Lewis advised the school board May 14. He was seeking approval of a fund-raiser that will raise approximately $8,000 to purchase new books. Lewis said that they have $800 in tax credit money, but noted that it wouldn’t go too far in buying books. He has arranged for a benefit concert by Ryan Shupe on Sept. 2, that will be $3,550, half the normal rate. With 840 seats in the auditorium, by charging $15 per seat they should have $12,000 in revenue, leaving approximately $8,000 for library books. Lewis said that town library staff members got wind of this and have offered their help, as did the Snowflake-Taylor Chamber of Commerce, which will help with advertising. The principal also advised the board that two Boy Scout Eagle projects will take on painting the library. A motion to approve the fund-raiser passed unanimously.
