Snowflake School Superintendent Monte Silk attended his last governing board meeting May 14.  Silk has resigned his post and will be taking a superintendent’s position in Wyoming so that he can be closer to his family.
Governing Board President Travis Tenney said that they came unprepared for Silk’s announcement that this would be his last meeting, but noted, “We’re going to come up with something Mr. Silk will remember us by.”
Tenney took a moment to thank Silk, saying, “I was on the board when we hired him and I guess I’ll still be on the board when you leave.” On behalf of the board he thanked Silk for his dedication stating, “He is a great superintendent, he has always done his work well, and kept the board well informed of what’s going on.”
Board member John Stewart said, “I’ve had a unique opportunity here in this district.  I actually was employed and had the opportunity to work with Mr. Silk quite close before I got on the board.”  He said he has worked under four or five superintendents, and was very pleased to have the opportunity to work with Silk, noting, “He was very concerned about the education and the employees in our district.”
Board member Ashley Davis thanked Silk for all he has done for the district.
Silk said, “This is the best board I’ve ever worked with, by far.  This has been a phenomenal board,” then told them he would send them a picture of him standing in some muck mucks in Montana.
Board member Shea Flake responded, “We’ll send some pictures of the wind.”
Flake also thanked Silk, noting, “You’ve taught me a lot.”
Silk said that leaving is very bittersweet, adding that these are very good people who have been awesome.
