State’s Lack Of Budget Will Not Affect NPC Operations

July 1st, 2009

A possible shutdown of state government agencies today (July 1) will not affect operations at Northland Pioneer College.
“The state must shut down at the end of the business day on June 30, if there is no budget,”explained NPC President Dr. Jeanne Swarthout. “All state agencies are making preparations to shut down on July 1 if there is no approved budget. NPC’s Governing Board adopted our budget at their May meeting. That’s the big difference, NPC has a budget--the state, with five days to go in the budget process, does not. Therefore we can continue to educate and support the communities we serve.”
NPC’s four campuses and the centers in Whiteriver and Springerville/Eagar will continue to operate on summer business hours of 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday.
