July 3 Stabbing Leaves Man Critically Injured

    A Holbrook man was found critically wounded following a stabbing incident that took place on Friday, July 3, in the 200 block of West Erie.
    Greg Tafoya, 35, of Holbrook was transported to the Little Colorado Medical Center in Winslow in critical condition after being stabbed in the heart with a knife.
    Although investigators are providing limited information, it was reported that the incident took place at Tafoya’s home at approximately 2:51 a.m.
    Detective Tim Dixon of Holbrook Police Department stated that Tafoya underwent emergency surgery immediately after being admitted into the hospital and survived the operation, but no further updates were available.
    Tafoya’s girlfriend, Toni Gonzales, 25, who resides with Tafoya, was arrested on charges of aggravated assault and attempted second degree murder in connection with the incident.
