By Tammy Gray-Searles
At 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 30, Winslow Children’s Theatre will present “Summer Struck,” a musical theater showcase, at the historic Winslow Theater, located at 115 Kinsley Ave.
Nearly 20 Winslow youth have been practicing throughout the summer for the performance, which will be the first live performance held at the theater in many years.
Tickets are being sold at the door, and are $3 for adults and $1 for children. A free reception will be held at Snowdrift Art Space, located at 120 W. Second St., immediately following the performance.
The musical theater showcase will feature popular songs from “The Music Man,” “South Pacific,” “Peter Pan,” “High School Musical” and “Hannah Montana.”
Winslow Children’s Theatre is already planning additional future performances, and hopes to turn the Winslow Theater into a site for both film and live performances. Director Cassandra Pynes noted that she hopes to eventually have productions that will involve all surrounding communities, including Holbrook and Flagstaff.
Volunteers helping to make the production possible include Pynes, Producer Dee Rodriguez, Assistant Producer Peggy Adams and makeup artist Lani White.
The cast for “Summer Struck” includes Aspen Prine, Ha Brooks, Alicia Fields, Kelci White, Emonie Begaye, Josh Cirre, Lauren Begay, Margarita Fields, Fernando Pipkins, Tommy Stotts, Ariel Prine, Roman Rodriguez, Michael Kilbury, Jessica Pipkins, Roseanna Decker, Tieler Schutze and James Kilbury.
