Open Class Entry Date Extended For Navajo County Fair

September 4th, 2009

For those who are still contemplating entering items in the upcoming Navajo County Fair, now is the time to act. The deadline for submitting entries into the Open Class Department has been extended until Monday, Sept. 14.
According to Open Class Supervisor Redgie Justman, some new categories have been added for 2009, including a fair theme contest, with an entry that defines what you think Horns & Hides, Laughs & Rides means, and an ugliest cake contest (must be edible).
The Fun For Everyone Department is full of fun contests to be enjoyed by all. They’re still accepting entries for the Pumpkin Contest, School Scarecrow Contest, Scarecrow Contest and a Most Creative Use of Duct Tape Contest. Some of the newer categories in that department are Trash to Treasure, which includes unique handmade items that are made from materials that you would normally throw away, and Bootyfull Boots, a boot decorating contest that will be judged by fairgoers.
For more information on how to enter, fair books are located at the libraries, post offices, city offices and chambers of commerce in both Holbrook and Winslow.
