Holbrook Police Department Takes On New Image And New Attitude

There is both a new look and a new attitude at the Holbrook Police Department as the building gets its first coat of paint ever, since it was built in 1959. The building is not only getting a paint job, but will also sport a new glass front door, and in the spring, plants will be put in the planters along the front of the build-ing. Chief Mark Jackson wants the building to be a source of pride for the community, as well as for the officers working there.
“What this is about is teamwork and taking pride in what we do. I’m going to have the police officer’s code of ethics posted right next to the front door for the officers and public to see when they come in this building. I want this to be an inviting place, not only for the community, but for the officers who work here,” stated Jackson.
The paint sprayer and five gallons of paint was donated by Kachina Auto Salvage in Winslow, which Jackson notes as a sign of a growing partnership with the surrounding communities.
“We work well with the Winslow Police Department and the businesses there. It’s something that is good for the department and our community,” stated Jackson. The people doing the labor are the employees themselves, not only because there’s no budget for the work, but also because it deepens the commitment of the employees.
