Joseph City School Board Conducts Evaluation Of New Superintendent

December 23rd, 2009

By Tammy Gray-Searles
The Joseph City School District Governing Board conducted a brief evaluation of Superintendent Robert Klein Dec. 16.
Board members conducted the evaluation in executive session and did not make any comment in open session regarding the evaluation.
School representative Kathy Fish noted following the meeting that Klein has been with the district for less than six months, and it is typical in such cases for the board to conduct only a brief review rather than a full-length one.
During the regular meeting, the board also took time to recognize the high school volleyball and football teams for their success throughout the season.
The board also heard the second reading of and approved a change to school policies that increases athletic program fees.
In other action Dec. 16, the board:
    * Approved the appointment of DWayne Hartup, Hedy Morris, Patrick Riley, Holly Turley and Kathy Williams as substitute teachers, and Kourtney Hendricks, Kay Rush, Julie Fields and Sheri Brennan as junior high school basketball coaches. They also approved Casey Fish and Kevin Crosby as high school wrestling volunteer coaches.
    * Approved a statement of assurance.
    * Approved appointment of student auditorium workers, substitute custodians, Red Ribbon coordinator and a sports event worker.
    * Heard the first reading of policy revisions recommended by the Arizona School Boards Association.
    * Tabled a governing board self-evaluation until the next regular meeting.
The next meeting is scheduled at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 12.
