Winslow Council Receives Report On Building Progress

January 27th, 2010

During last night’s (Jan. 26) meeting of the Winslow City Council, the council was slated to receive a report by City Inspector Marshall Larsen, which indicated progress on several building projects under way or planned for the community.
Two of the projects are under way at the Little Colorado River Medical Center on the north end of Williamson Avenue. The Primary Care Clinic, which contains new doctors’ offices, and the remodeled North Country Health Care Center have both completed construction and been issued certificates of occupation. Larsen noted that he had been told that it would be approximately a month before the doctors’ offices were to be opened and in business.
Walmart has done some remodeling work on one of its tenant spaces, and a new Money Center is expected to use that space.
The Maverick service station and store have had their site plans approved, and the company has been given the OK to submit construction drawings. Larsen expects those drawings to be submitted in the first part of February.
The ITT Corporation has been issued a permit to construct a communications tower on Airport Road, and the construction of that tower has begun.
The Firewood plant has begun shipping product from the Winslow site. Renovation and much work at the building is continuing.
The Handee Laundry and Car Wash has started reconstruction of the interior of the building, which was destroyed by fire.
The First Baptist Church continues to work on remodeling and adding to its Education Building on Warren Avenue.
