Young Wildcats Open Season Thursday At Mohave Tourney

    Just two seniors and one senior exchange student line the roster of a youthful Wildcat squad for Joseph City Coach Steve Marquez.   
    With only 14 players on the roster at this time the Cats may be small in numbers, but Coach Marquez likes their effort so far in practice.  
    “We have a few players that played on varsity quite a bit last season, and even though they aren’t sen-iors this year, they still have experience. With just 14 players at this time, we have small numbers, but I have been impressed with the kids’ approach and their overall work ethic in practice,” said the coach.
    William Bain and Tyler Vaughn join Mitch Yamamota as the only seniors on the team. Zach Warner, Mitchell Elmer and Jacob Burt are the juniors on the team, and will be joined by sophomores Zach Baldwin, Braden Hansen and Jason Strong, and freshmen Zach Miller, Taylor Pogue, Brannick Carlisle, Ryan James and Tyler Rice.
    The Wildcats open the season at the Mohave Tournament on Thursday, Feb. 28, and hope to play at least five games before the tourney ends on Saturday. They will then have some time off to work on their game before hosting the Round Valley Elks on Saturday, March 8.
