HHS Golfers Compete At Snowflake Course

March 6th, 2008

By Greg Perkins
Holbrook golf Coach Del Novell has a novice team taking to the fairways this season. In their first var-sity competition last week held at Snowflake, the Roadrunners showed their youth, with every player post-ing rounds in triple figures over the difficult layout.
Quayla Skevington led the Birds with a score of 101. Ben Rishel carded a 109, Ryan Best, a 129, and Connor Hager came in with a score of 139.
As a team the Birds placed fifth with a team total of 478.
Snowflake appears to be the heavy favorite to take the league crown and possibly the state title. Not only did the Lobos have the top three individual placers, they also took first as a team with 326 strokes. Show Low was second with 375, followed by Blue Ridge with 381, Winslow with 424 and Holbrook with 478.  Payson had just three golfers and didn't qualify a team score.
Holbrook’s golfers will have a chance to improve on their scores when they play at Silver Creek on Wednesday, March 12.
