HHS Student-Athletes Compete In 3A North Invitational Track Meet

    The Holbrook High School track team saw its first action of the year Tuesday at the 3A North Invita-tional meet held in the Northern Arizona University Skydome in Flagstaff.   
    The Lady Roadrunners scored their first points ever at the meet in the girls’ division as Chelsea John (31’), and April Lester (30’7”) placed fifth and sixth in the finals of the shot put. For the Roadrunners, Rex Self earned the only team point qualifying for state at the same time with a sixth place finish in the high jump as he cleared 5’10”.
    Snowflake won the girls’ division of the meet with a team high 63 points. They were followed by Se-dona with 60.5 and Chino Valley with 60. Holbrook placed 14th in the 17-team field with three points.
    In the boys’ division, Sedona took top honors with 60 points, followed by Snowflake with 54 and Chino Valley with 53. Holbrook scored just one point and placed 17th along with Ganado.

    In the long jump, Kalei Long placed eighth with a distance of 13'10”; Chantelle Gaddy, 33rd; and Re-Anna Chee, 42nd.
    In the 60 meter dash, Danielle Tapaha placed 26th; Jennifer Basaldua, 34th; and Tess McGee, 39th.
    In the 200 meter dash, Danielle Tapaha placed 19th; Kalei Long, 31st; and Tess McGee, 35th.  
    In the 400 meter dash, Kalei Long was 21st; and Chantelle Gaddy, 28th.
    In the 800 meter run, April Lester was 23rd; Ashley John, 31st; and Andrell Williams, 47th.
    In the 1500 meter run, April Lester placed 17th; and ReAnna Chee, 27th.  
    In the 3000 meter run, Valdena John placed 14th; Andrell Williams, 17th; and Natasha Goldtooth, 18th.
    In the 60 meter hurdles, Danielle Tapaha placed 14th; and Jennifer Basaldua, 17th.
    In the shot put,  Chelsea John placed fifth; April Lester, sixth; and Karen Hernandez, 30th.

    In the 60 meter hurdles, McKay Tenney placed 13th; and Ryan Williams, 19th.
    In the 200 meter dash, James Bitsue placed 41st; and Terrance Tsosie, 45th.  
    In the long jump, James Bitsue placed 34th; Zachary Halwood, 39th; and Colin Larry, 44th.  
    In the shot put, Morty Jim placed 28th; and Olin Jones, 29th.
    In the 1500 meter run, Jackie Frank placed 15th; Nathaniel Manygoats, 16th; and Nolvin John, 19th.  
    In the high jump, Rex Self placed sixth; and Tyler Stingley and McKay Tenney tied for 22nd place.
    In the 400 meter dash, Rex Self placed 26th; Tyler Stingley, 27th; and Terrance Tsosie, 33rd.
    In the 800 meter run, Medorick Graham placed 37th.  
    In the 1500 meter run, Jackie Frank placed 23rd; Nathaniel Manygoats, 27th; and Adrian Thomas, 28th.
    The young athletes will next be in action on Wednesday, March 12, when they compete in the Winslow four-way meet. On Friday, March 14, they will be at the Round Valley Invitational in Eagar.
    A complete list of all the participants on the team will be listed with their next results.
    Assisting head Coach Jody Good this season will be Lelia Demuth, Fred Jackson and Jennifer Moats.
