Lady Roadrunners Are Shut Out By Blue RidgeMarch 10th, 2008
By Greg Perkins The Lady Roadrunners of Holbrook will have to wait until the River Valley Tournament this weekend to hopefully pick up their first win of the season. After an 0-2 start Holbrook struggled again Tuesday afternoon when the Lady Birds hosted Blue Ridge. Things looked good early on with the teams shutting each other out in the first inning. In the second, however, the Lady Jackets were able to score three runs while Holbrook remained with a goose egg. Holbrook again played well on defense in the third, keeping the score at 3-0, but in the fourth and fifth the bottom fell out as Blue Ridge scored six runs in each to end the game under the 10-run rule after five innings, 15-0. “Right now we are just a very young team with little experience and it is showing in the final results,” said Coach Monty Flack. Kathalena Manygoats took the loss in the circle for Holbrook. Blue Ridge 030 66 15 Holbrook 000 00 0 Now 0-3 the Lady Birds will be playing five games at the River Valley Tournament over the weekend. They hope to build some confidence before hosting Round Valley on Tuesday, March 11. Following that, they will be competing in the Winslow Invitational next weekend.
